In order to maximise our talent pool to best suit the dynamic nature of the converging digital media, Para-Noir's staff is constantly evolving. We sub-contract our personnel to avoid redundancy, to maintain an enthusiatic team of designers, and to increase our ability for specialisation.
The two members who always remain on staff are Directors Joshua Smith and Vivien Lau.
Joshua Smith has a background in film and television, having worked within the ranks of the camera crew for Village Roadshow Productions in Queensland, Australia. He has also produced, directed and photographed a number of independent short films. Joshua also heads Surrealms FX, Para-Noir's digital effects division, where he calls upon a range of skills in relation to 3D modelling, animation and compositing. A self-taught Web developer, Josh has created Web sites since late 1996. Many of his sites now pull in more than 100,000 visitors monthly, as a result of his concurrent self-education in web promotion and advertising. Joshua recently founded iOnline Pty Ltd, which is rapidly forging its way towards a leadership position in Australia's burgeoning online industry. He also holds a Bachelor of Communications from Bond University, where he reached the Vice-Chancellor's list during each semester of his enrolment. His interests now include the manufacture of all-digital comic books, as well as Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence.
A student of Griffith University's multimedia degree, Vivien Lau has extensive experience in developing advanced interactive technologies. With an arsenal of skills that includes a mastery of 3D Studio Max, Flash and Macromedia Director, Vivien can have any site pulsating with color, movement and interactivity within hours. Vivien is also well-versed in the art and science of networking and data communications, and can readily oversee the back-end development of many business IT systems. She also shares Joshua's interest in film production, and has completed a course in professional makeup artistry, which also serves Surrealms FX' video production activities.
